Book Riva Aquarama: Impossible collection by Assouline
Description
When it comes to glamor and high-end style on the seas, there is nothing more captivating than the Aquarama. Imagined by the legendary Carlo Riva, the wooden speed car has become an icon of Italian design and the Riva Aquarama book, published by Assouline, is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Loved for its clean lines, mahogany, gleaming chrome details and Robin's signature egg blue and cream upholstery, the Aquarama reflected the dolce vita optimism of early 1960s Italy; it is impossible to imagine the sparkling French Riviera and the coasts of Europe without visions of endless summers spent lounging on the back of the boat in the warm summer sun, and the gentle roar of the engine as the Aquarama cuts the waves.
The Riva icon enjoyed legendary status and was beloved by movie stars, heads of state and royalty - everyone from Brigitte Bardot, Elizabeth Taylor, Gunter Sachs and the Monaco royal family, among many countless other luminaries, was enchanted by the charm of Aquarama. Of the approximately 760 completed Aquaramas manufactured in the Sarnico shipyard, Riva experts estimate that around 650 still exist, which only adds to the boat's legendary status. But more than just a trophy, the Aquarama is fiercely loved by its owners and enthusiasts, it is not just a boat, but the realization of a dream. In this exceptional tribute to the Aquarama, author Michael Verdon tells the story of the legendary boat and brings its dolce vita charm to life. The book is also offered in a special edition, presented in a luxurious mahogany slipcase designed to express the beauty of the Aquarama's magnificent hull. This special edition offers owners, collectors and enthusiasts a piece of the Riva dream.
White gloves and a signature canvas tote bag are included with every purchase of Assouline's ultimate collection.
