Book Cartier: Impossible Collection

Book Cartier: Impossible Collection by Assouline

Description

One of the world's leading luxury jewelers since the 19th century, Cartier evokes a world of art and beauty, a heritage of unparalleled prestige. By 1909, Cartier was the leading international jeweler of its time, with boutiques in Paris, London and New York, and was official supplier to many royal courts. Cartier established a unique network based on exceptional knowledge of the gemstone market and developed a revolutionary style that has proven timeless, a refined language capturing the ephemeral character of each era, from sobriety to enthusiastic opulence.

With its synthesis of technical ability and artistic sensitivity, global perspective and exacting perfection, Cartier has ensured its continued customer loyalty and lasting reputation. Cartier's cosmopolitan clientele, made up of women of strong character, refined aesthetes and intellectual minds, from Jean Cocteau to Alberto Santos-Dumont, from the Maharaja of Nawanagar to the Duchess of Windsor, from Gloria Swanson to Elizabeth Taylor, has served as a catalyst for renewal and stylistic influencers.

The neoclassical delicacy of the Garland style, the stylized geometries of Art Deco, the iconic creations of the legendary artistic director Jeanne Toussaint, the evolutions of the Panthère and Tutti Frutti motifs: each new Cartier collection draws on broad aesthetic inspirations, seeking to illustrate beauty in new and unexpected forms. This handcrafted Ultimate Collection volume features captivating texts revealing the stories behind the creation of 100 of Cartier's most stunning and innovative objects and jewelry.

Exclusive white gloves and canvas tote bag are included with every purchase of an Ultimate Collection book.
