Book Costa Smeralda by Assouline
Description
In perfect harmony with nature, the Costa Smeralda was born from the uninhabited and untouched territory of the northeastern tip of Sardinia. Discovering the unlimited potential of the region, Prince Aga Khan and other interested associates set to work developing and transforming Costa Smeralda into an exclusive and luxurious getaway. Since then, VIP guests such as Marisa Berenson, Roberto and Eva Cavalli, and Naomi Campbell have been seduced by the scents of juniper mixed with the salt spray of the omnipresent Mediterranean. The natural abundance of the area combines harmoniously with an original architectural style that makes the Costa Smeralda a truly one-of-a-kind destination.
Founded on March 14, 1962, at the request of Prince Karim Aga Khan, the Consorzio Costa Smeralda was created with the aim of planning and balancing urban and residential development within the territorial boundaries of Costa Smeralda. Based in the heart of the village of Porto Cervo, the Consorzio has been promoting the tourist destination for sixty years, while ensuring the protection of the region's environment. Smeralda Holding, the largest member of Consorzio Costa Smeralda, holds the relative majority and ownership of the most important hotels (Hotel Cervo, Hotel Pitrizza, Hotel Romazzino, Hotel Cala di Volpe), land, restaurants and shops of the Costa Smeralda.
