Book The Missoni Family Cookbook

Book The Missoni Family Cookbook by Assouline

Description

The Missoni family lives life in color. They didn't just revolutionize knitting; they have forged a lifestyle which, like their fashion, combines elegance and enthusiasm with spontaneity and sophistication. The Missoni style is recognized and admired throughout the world and is collected by fashionistas and museums alike. This same simple glamorous trend also inspires the Missoni family's entertaining, and their dinners have become one of the most coveted invitations of fashion week. Lush and informal at the same time, a Missoni feast isn't just a kaleidoscope of style with four generations of family wearing Missoni - it's a kaleidoscope of tastes, scents and colors.

And whether the meal is for twenty or two hundred people, it always presents family recipes imagined for the season and the occasion, recipes that have now become legendary. And just as Missoni fans around the world collect the brand's iconic zigzags, Francesco Maccapani Missoni, the son of Missoni creative director Angela Missoni, collects family recipes – and it turns out their cooking is everything as unique as their style. Francesco has a healthy respect for tradition and with The Missoni Family Cookbook he chronicles the Missoni culinary tradition, making these delicious, well-kept family recipes available to the home cook for the first time. This book invites you directly into the house of the family so famous through fashion so that you can join the Missonis a tavola.

Francesco Maccapani Missoni is the son of Angela Missoni and Marco Maccapani and the grandson of Tai and Rosita Missoni, founders of the eponymous fashion brand. He was born in 1985 and grew up in the countryside near Milan, surrounded by his noisy extended family. He now runs a startup based in Milan and is, as they affectionately say, una buona forchetta (a foodie). Food and cooking are her passions, with a strong emphasis on family traditions, sustainable sources, local produce and fresh seasonal ingredients.

The Missoni Family Cookbook features a preview of close family friend Quincy Jones, whose career has encompassed roles as composer, record producer, recording artist, film producer, arranger, conductor, instrumentalist, television producer, magazine founder, multimedia entrepreneur, author and humanitarian. . He was named one of the most influential artists of the 20th century by Time magazine and in 2010 received the National Medal of Arts, the nation's highest artistic honor. Today, in addition to his extensive non-profit work with NGOs such as Unicef, Jones manages and mentors a roster of young musicians. Francesco is very proud to have prepared meals and exchanged recipes with his honorary “uncle” and to have met the approval of this accomplished talent scout and this good forchetta.
