'Lyons Den' is Victoria's take on the classic toile de Jouy wallpaper, reimagined to tell the captivating story of an animal-led safari. This design brings a whimsical twist to the traditional pastoral scenes typically associated with toile, replacing them with a vibrant and imaginative narrative where the animals are the centre of attention.

For the Lyons Den I wanted to create a wallpaper that was perfect for both a child's bedroom and a large hallway, something exquisite, suitable for the young and the young at heart.

A friend looking for a design for her own child’s nursery inspired this project. I started designing while she was pregnant and after many months of work the design was ready just in time for baby Maggie’s arrival. Her last name is Lyons so lions had to be the theme of the wallpaper. I am fascinated by Tanzania and the vast ecosystems of the Serengeti and Kitula National Parks. We decided that would be the setting for the design. Liking the idea of ​​incorporating hot air balloons into the wallpaper, an animal-led safari began to shape the story. I love the traditional French toile style, so delicate, chic and intricate; it seemed like the perfect way to lay it out and colour it. The design evolved from there with endless additions and tweaks, but the devil is really in the details for this one. Find all the little creatures hidden and read the tale woven into the wallpaper…
